Limestone Park in Alabaster is approximately 100 acres of locally rare habitats including one of the largest beaver marshes in the area, a Water Tupelo Swamp (rare in this part of the state), wet marsh, and open grasslands. It is a featured site on the Alabama Birding Trails system and is considered one of the the best birding locations in the greater Birmingham metro area.

Birding observation deck (handicap accessible)
- Approximately 1.2 miles (round trip) of gravel road for walking or driving access
- Mowed nature trail through the wet meadow and along the beaver marsh
- Two native prairie plant restoration plots maintained by Birmingham Audubon volunteers
- Over 500 species of plants, animals, birds, fish, reptiles, and insects have been recorded so far in the park with more being added often
- Home to nesting Anghinas and Tree Swallows (both rare nesters for Alabama and only known to nest in Limestone Park in Central Alabama)
- Central pond where many families fish (fishing line disposal containers available - please protect our year round Pied-Billed Grebe)
