Blood Rock 100 Mile and 50 Mile
The 2017 Blood Rock 100 or 50 mile trail race will likely be the hardest 50 or 100 you have ever run. The 100 will have well over 40,000 feet of elevation change, the 50 mile, 20,000 ft. However, the elevation gain is not what makes the race so hard. It is the terrain. Oak Mountain State Park is only 600 feet tall and about 8 miles long but what it lacks in size it makes up for in brutally steep technical climbs and descents, treacherous trails and endless rocks and roots.
The course is a 50 mile loop. The Course is almost entirely within the 10,000 acre Oak Mountain State Park.
The 2017 race will start at the Cabins on Tranquility Lake. We have reserved all 10 cabins for Friday and Saturday night and runners may rent them for the race weekend. We will be able to use the lodge building at the cabins for the prerace meeting and as the aid station.
